My Monetā„¢ Sunset Weigela

A Proven WinnersĀ® ColorChoiceĀ® shrub with multi-color foliage and vivid blooms, the My MonetĀ® Sunset Weigela (Weigela florida 'Sunset') is a charming little dwarf flowering shrub that provides colorful gold and green foliage that turns to red in the fall. This gorgeous little shrub offers multi-seasonal color!

This Weigela is a slow-growing plant that is usually grown mainly for its rich-colored foliage. My MonetĀ® Sunset produces trumpet-shaped rosy, deep pink flowers throughout the summer! Swarms of pollinators and Hummingbirds will flock to these blooms, which are the perfect shape for nectar-feeding wildlife!

Cold-hardy and space-saving ornamentals throughout USDA growing zones 5 to 8, there is little that fazes this adaptable and dwarf shrub grows just 12- 18 feet tall and 18 - 24 inches wide, making up for its size with sheer color!

Planting and Application:

My MonetĀ® Sunset will change the way you think about these colorful deciduous shrubs! This beauty can be used like a low mounding accent, colorful three-season rows or edging, as dramatic facer plants, and incredible when used en masse as a groundcover!

My MonetĀ® is the perfect size for courtyards and small-space gardens, tucking into empty gaps in established landscapes, and adding bright pops of color in sunny postage-stamp gardens. Even containers and planters on your porch and patio, balcony gardens, and container gardeners! The uses are endless!

  • Deep Pink Trumpet-Shaped Flowers
  • Gold Foliage Turns Red in Autumn
  • Attracts Hummingbirds & Butterflies
  • Small & Space-Saving
  • Planters, Backdrops & Hedges, Specimen & Foundations!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Weigela prefers full sun for the best flowering but can tolerate some light afternoon shade, especially for shrubs planted in the hotter of their favored growing zones. It's adaptive to a variety of soil types and even does well in urban settings! Weigela shrubs do best in average garden soils and enjoy moderate moisture levels. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture in the ground as well as insulates the root system from heat and chill. Weigela won't need much pruning after flowering or deadheading to trigger a rebloom. However, if you wish to give them some pruning, just be sure to do it right after that first spring flush of color. Weigela does benefit from a renewal pruning every few years, with the oldest stems removed that are not as productive to keep the shrub dense, loaded in blooms and lushly covered in foliage.

  • Most Blooms & Best Color in Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Adaptive to Various Well-Drained Soils - Tolerates Urban Conditions
  • Easy Care & Low-Maintenance & Deer Resistant
  • Prune After Spring Bloom & No Deadheading Required

Gorgeous color, and easy care, the Proven WinnersĀ® ColorChoiceĀ® My MonetĀ® Sunset Weigela will light up your landscape! Order your at Nature Hills today!
